Ed Blomeley, CEO The Blomeley Group of Cos.
Ed Blomeley got his start working in radio broadcasting before moving into TV and now, streaming video over the internet. He’s the president and CEO of Blomeley Communications, a company he started in 1988. His previous positions include working in radio and as a freelance sports broadcaster, as well as spending six years working at CJOH-TV. While covering the Calgary Olympics, he heard about an opportunity in Ottawa. “At the time,” he says,, “Ottawa didn’t really have a core of sports broadcasters.” So he came back to the city and set up shop. His education background is in broadcasting, which he studied at Algonquin College. Some of the notable projects include producing Don Cherry’s Rock’em Sock’em DVDs every year as well as working on the coverage of three Olympic Games. He is currently in the process of developing and launching an online television channel named TruckGuysTV. Given his long history in the sports broadcasting world, it’s no surprise that Mr. Blomeley’s favourite TV programs are sports related. He says he loves the beginnings and ends of sports broadcasts – the pundits, the features, the intros and recaps.
